Welcome to Archery!

Re-opening procedure.

Welcome to Archery in Leith! It's been a profoundly strange couple of years with Covid and in that time we have managed to return to shooting within covid guidelines.
Now we are free from most, if not all Covid regulations, we will be opening up more lanes for shooting, and look forward to getting things back in full swing.

We have been busy developing a new online booking system where you can book a session.  And we have just developed a Leith Community Archery membership process too.

Information for Archery.

There are three sessions:

  • Family Session running from 6.30 pm until 7.10 pm,
  • Adult Session 1 from 7.15 pm until 7.55 pm
  • Adult Session 2 from 8.00 pm to 8.40 pm
  • All archery sessions will be booked in advance using our new booking system.
  • There will be 6 shooting lanes, with coloured cones for identification.
  • All children (under 16) must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Please follow any guidance and instruction given by the LCA members during the session.

Please note the entrance to Leith Academy is on the side of the building.

On Arrival

Please come into the building by the door shown in the diagram here. (Download a copy).

When you reach the area just outside the hall you will be greeted by an LCA member who will:

  • Confirm your booking.
  • Issue you with an Arm guard.
  • Give you a coloured cone that indicates the lane you will be shooting in.

At the start of your session if its your first time shooting, or your first time shooting with us

  • Go through a safety briefing.
  • Talk through housekeeping.
  • Go through the LCA rules of shooting.
  • Take any questions.

During the session Instructors will be on hand to ensure that everyone follows the rules and safety precautions.  The instructors will also advise on technique and be there to help.

Important!

  • Ensure your six arrows are kept together throughout the session
  • Please stay in your lane.
  • Long hair must be tied back.
  • Loose jewelry must be removed.
  • Never shoot an unloaded bow.
  • Only load your bow when you are at the shooting line

At the end of the Session
At the end of the session the instructor will put sterilising wipes on the end of the bench. You will then be asked to:-

  • Ensure your arrows are back in the floor quivers
  • Ensure you have all your belongings
  • Leave the bows either in the bow stands or on the bench
  • Take off your arm guard and put it in the bag provided.
